Delhi students to head for NASA's Johnson Space Centre event

NEW DELHI: A month after Sunita Williams, an astronaut of Indian origin, returned from space after establishing a new record, 12 Delhi-based students will participate in the finals of a competition at NASA's Johnson Space Centre at Houston in the US giving their creative ideas about settlements in space.

A team of students of the Amity International School in south Delhi have made it to the final eight teams from the world for the prestigious event to be held between July 21 and July 23 2007, Amity officials said here.

The International Space Settlement Design Competition is an industry simulation for teams of high school students who prepare designs for "cities in space where 1,000 people live".

The competition co-founders include Anita Gale, aerospace veteran, currently employed in Boeing.
